UIW Set to Celebrate Fall Class of 2019

Graduates completed 66,947 hours of community service

The graduating Fall Class of 2019 completed 66,947 hours of community service, providing an economic impact of $1.700万年. Community service is a pillar of the well-rounded education promised by UIW and it is the hope of our community that the graduates will continue this legacy of service as concerned and enlightened citizens of our society.

Dr. 斯蒂芬妮年代. 鲍斯威尔Dr. 斯蒂芬妮年代. 鲍斯威尔 is Professor of Psychology at University of the Incarnate Word and this year’s Moody Professor. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, her Master of Science in Applied Psychology at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (咨询) at The University of Southern Mississippi. At University of the Incarnate Word since 2008, Dr. 鲍斯威尔 is more excited about undergraduate teaching now than ever. She thrives on helping students learn to think like researchers and apply psychological science to foster empathy for themselves and others. She has previously received the Provost’s Legacy Award, the Mission Continues Sr. Eleanor Ann Young Award for Truth, and the Presidential Teaching Award. She says she is amazed and thankful to be the UIW Moody Professor.

的教授, established in 1971 by the Moody Foundation, reflects the recipient’s level of scholarship, teaching excellence and community service. The Moody Professor is the faculty member chosen to lead the faculty and carry the University Mace. The Commencement address to the 12月ember graduates is traditionally delivered by the Moody Professor and is often considered the students’ “last class.”

罗兰TrevinoThe Fall 2019 校友 of Distinction is 罗兰Trevino. Treviño began attending Incarnate Word College, 现在校本, later in life when he learned about the University’s Adult Degree Completion Program (now the School of Professional Studies) in 1994. Already a manager at the original Los Barrios, he fought for one of the few open spots in the program. He was chosen and started attending Incarnate Word majoring in business management.  Trevino became one of the first graduates from the program, earning his degree in May 1998 and made the Dean’s List.  He honed his executive decision making and strategic planning skills, as well as learned to maximize spending by controlling costs, now including technology updates, labor and capital asset budgeting and food inventory purchasing. Treviño is co-owner and operator of Los Barrios Mexican Restaurants, which includes the original Los Barrios, La Hacienda de los Barrios, La Hacienda Scenic Loop and Viola’s Ventanas. In addition to his entrepreneurial success, Trevino continues to stay involved with his alma mater by serving on UIWs development board contributing to numerous initiatives. He is also a member of the Texas Cavaliers and was the 2017 chair for Hope for the Future Khaki and Plaid Gala.

A Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for Friday, 12月. 下午5点.m. 在Alice P中. McDermott Convocation Center on the UIW Broadway campus. The 圣安东尼奥 Pipes and Drums will perform processional and recessional music for the Baccalaureate and Commencement.

Admission to commencement ceremony is by ticket only. Commencement will also be broadcast online.
